    We introduce and assess resistivity based methods as a tool to delineate quick clay / Leda clay deposits that pose a substantial geohazard in the high latitudes of the northern hemisphere. Based on in-situ observations we show the relevance of soil resistivity as a proxy for remoulded shear strength, the classifying parameter for quick clay. To map resistivity most efficiently, we present time- domain helicopter electromagnetic (SkyTEM) surveys in Sweden and Norway, tightly integrated with sparse geotechnical investigations. We show that airborne resistivity models are accurate enough and correlate well with in-situ data, to resolve the subtle differences between intact marine clay and leached and thus potentially quick clay. Utilizing local quick clay resistivity statistics, based on resistivity logs, we transform resistivity models to probability maps that indicate the likelihood to encounter quick clay. Despite the accuracy and clear correlation between resistivity and quick clay potential, it must be stressed that a resistivity anomaly may not necessarily be due to leached clay but also due to different mineralogy or geochemistry. Complex bedrock topography and the strong resistivity contrast between clay and bedrock further complicate interpreting resistivity signatures. Resistivity models integrated with geotechnical laboratory tests provide a cost efficient decision basis.
